Lenten Series

This Lent, we will journey with the theme of vocation.  We will be reflecting on vocation not what we do for a living, but as a life-long process of discerning and seeking to be who we are at our truest, most authentic selves.

 In addition to engaging this theme in worship, as part of this Lenten journey, you are invited to join Rev. Jason and members of DCC in a reading and discussion group based on Parker Palmer’s book “Let Your Life Speak”.  We will read one chapter of this little but profound book ahead of each zoom conversation.   We will meet on Thursday evenings at 7pm beginning on February 22nd through March 25th.  Please email or text Rev. Jason if you are able to join the discussion.   

The book is described: “Is the life I am living the same as the life that wants to live in me?”  With this searching question, Parker Palmer begins an insightful and moving meditation on finding one’s true calling.  The book’s title is a time-honored Quaker admonition, usually taken to me “Let the highest truths and values guide everything you do”

Also, if you are interested, Carrie Newcomer (singer & songwriter) and Parker Palmer also have a Podcast called The Growing Edge which engages contemporary issues and events, and includes their conversations and music.  We hope to sing some of Carrie Newcomer’s music during lent as we gather each week, in part, to seek together that each of our highest truths and values guide everything we do!
